Artist Commentary: Part of a new series "The Playa" this piece titled El Wiken is a humoristic approach about the local beach scene on weekends. The crowded beach becomes an abstract accumulation of shapes giving the viewer just enough information to decipher what the painting is about. An overall red hue dominates the painting with varied values to make up lights and darks which rhythmically shimmer in the sun.
