This type of wooden shield has been historically used as a defensive weapon in wartime and displayed as a decorative symbol of status and wealth by the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. Hand-carved from one solid piece of Baobab wood, an eco-friendly sacred wood, this tall oval shield is engraved with striped carvings, creating a black and white pattern.
