Fragments is a digitally remixed drawing rendered in the magical colors of India's Thar Desert, as well as the colors of its sky during the cooler hours of dusk and dawn, when our rugs are often woven. Desert captures the greens, pinks, and beiges of the region's succulents, peacocks, and sand dunes.
Malachite's layered composition is an homage to the terrain and architecture of northern India, where 400 years ago they built elaborately designed stone staircases leading down to ponds and reservoirs, many of which still exist today.
Featuring an organic, curvilinear design derived from a digitally abstracted photo of caves in Cappadocia, our Kulfi collection combines the earthy tones of India's landscape with the saturated colors of the local ice cream it's named after in this case a more muted palette evoking the flavor known as kesar, or saffron.
