heavy solid brass, sturdy construction. Looks high quality. Love it. It is now three years since we purchased these and they still look awesome and we get lots of compliments on them. They are such great quality and very beautiful. I love the way the dark finish rubs off slightly over time where your hand touches to reveal the beautiful brass raised pattern. Makes it even prettier. The oil rubbed finish does not rub off a lot or discolor your had or fabric. rather it is so miniscule over time but still results in the emergence of the shinier bronze underneath giving it that aged patina which goes perfect in our historical home..
