Structure in life plays a vital role as it allows some of us to maintain balance in dealing with the day-to-day challenges of life. This piece aims to utilize fun colors and arrange them in a structured way that would still spark feelings of joy and play within its viewers. It is this balance of structure and fun that makes life beautiful.

Is it human nature to find empty spaces and fill them? Is it our innate desire to take up space? This is a fine-tuned dance we’ve been exploring for generations. In our cities, empty lots get filled almost as fast as they get emptied. Giant skyscrapers are erected in an instant. Gridded started as a glass and metal wall sculpture that explores positive and negative space. The sculpture, when displayed on a wall creates a dynamic effect, mimicking this exploration through light and shadow.

Individual pieces of glass are hand cut and placed over a welded metal frame on different elevations to create a 3D dynamic and harmonious composition. Each piece is hand created by the artist Karo Martirosyan in his studio in Los Angeles. With a background in architecture, the artist is influenced by the majestic power of nature, helping him build the structures, and using balance and color while imagining the story he wants to tell. The rear steel structure is primed and powder coated for maximum durability and all of the colors are baked inside each sheet of glass. Each piece is unique; slight variations in coloration and patterning will occur.

Axial is a glass and metal wall sculpture that explores positive and negative space with axial lines creating intersections of intrigue. The sculpture, when displayed on a wall creates a dynamic effect, mimicking this exploration through light and shadow.

Triangular Composition is a study of creation through simplicity. Three triangles can be three triangles or create a new polygon. As a 3D glass wall sculpture, Triangular Composition can accent any room or set with a bright and refined color palette.

Four Seasons is an attempt to capture a year through the glass. Each tile represents a season and the rotation of a full calendar year. Nature is a great source of inspiration for much of my work, and “Four Seasons” is a reflection of nature and its play with all of us. From the new life that is born each spring, to the warmth of summer, to the harvest of the fall, and the cold of the winter, whatever season we’re in we still feel the other 3. The sharp contrast of each gives us something to remember, something to look forward to, and several things to be thankful for.
