Absolutely Perfect, The design matched what I needed for my countertop and it grinds spices perfectly.. Matthew. Houston, TX. Tue Mar 18 2025

Mortars have been used around the world for centuries, from Asia and Europe to the earliest populations of north and south America. The friction of the mortar's rough ceramic interior against the grinding action of the pestle releases the full flavor of herbs and spices, while also changing the texture and consistency of pesto and other dishes. The stoneware mortar & pestle is inspired by this age-old technique of careful preparation, with an unglazed interior that is abrasive enough to effectively break down contents, yet durable enough to withstand the friction of repeated grinding.

I love the size of this mortar and pestle. Now I can crush garlic and mix the salad dressing ingredients all in one spot. Plus it rounds out my set. Cynthia. Charlotte, NC. Mon Oct 15 2018

Unlike other pestles and mortars, this stylish design includes a reversible bamboo lid with several functions. Firstly, it helps keep the mortar clean and dust-free when stored on a counter or shelf and features a deep groove on the top to safely hold the pestle when not in use. When removed, the lid can also be turned over and used as a small chopping surface. The heavy-weight pestle and mortar are both carved from the same hard-wearing, natural granite, making them perfect for crushing garlic, grinding spices, pounding herbs, and making pesto and salsas. As this product is made from beautiful, natural materials, each item produced is unique.

Cast iron is a smart choice for mortars and pestles thanks to its density and longevity.

Exactly what I wanted!. Karen. TN. Tue Nov 19 2024

Perfect for making fresh guacamole, pesto, or grinding dry spices! They grind and crush whole spices and herbs quickly and easily, releasing full flavor and essential oils. Each mortar is cut from one solid piece of natural granite or marble for longevity. Like all mortars & pestles, these mortars feature an untreated, coarse inside to facilitate grinding, and their tall walls won't let ingredients escape. The pestles are heavy, yet comfortably shaped.
