This art is fine but I didn’t love it like I thought I would. The background is not a pure white, it’s more a natural color so in places it looks a little dirty. Stephanie Dennis is an artist living and working in Oakland, California. She received her MFA in Painting and Drawing at the University of Washington and her BA from San Diego State University. She has shown her work in group shows and has taught painting at UC Davis and the University of Washington. She completed residencies at Vermont Studio Center and KALA Art Institue in Berkeley, CA. Her abstract drawings and paintings investigate ideas about place, loss and belonging, and often depict tenuously-structured forms that speak to our sense of vulnerability. Guseul Park was born and raised in Korea and studied ceramics in college; however, she was always drawn to painting and drawing and is a self-taught artist. “Art means meditation to me. By creating art, I get to go explore the deepest side of me and examine my state of mind. Creating art always brought me to a state of pure joy. It is the place in which I can be myself.” Her favorite medium to use is a pencil which she describes as “back to basics art.” She finds inspiration in daily strolls and travel. She also enjoys reading and sewing embroidery when she is not creating new artwork.
