Made of composite, the 3 Piece Coral Branches Sculpture Set fools the eye into thinking they are composed of the natural materials found at the bottom of the sea. Though they appear to be placed on stacked wood stands, these bases are made of composite as well. The red sculptures have two artisans to thank for the feeling of authenticity: the mold maker, who is central to the work; and the painter, who hand-paints the pieces to create the illusion that they are from nature. We also offer a smaller set of coral sculptures in a brighter red.
I was quite disappointed with this item. The header of the Perigold page calls it a "3 Piece Coral Branches Sculpture Set". So I naturally thought it was coral, and ordered it thinking this. However, while waiting for delivery, I took another look at the page, and down below it said it was "composite" and so not actually coral. Therefore, I had to return it. I must say, though, that Perigold made returning it quite easy. In fact, I have always had positive purchasing experiences with Perigold, and will not stop shopping here because of this one glitch, but I do think the labeling was misleading (I am sure not intentionally), and so should be changed..
