This collection is based on antique Oriental rug designs but uses a contemporary color palette. The main characteristic of these rugs is the noticeable abrash (color change), a new technique of weaving between two color hues, which imparts an antique look. Handwoven in China with a very high knot count and using only the finest wools, the result is the character of an heirloom rug with the resilience of a new one. With a very high knot count of approximately 240 knots per round inch, and using only the finest wools from New Zealand and Mongolia, the result is the character of an heirloom rug with the resilience of a new one.

This One-of-a-Kind collection takes its inspiration from the ornamental carpets produced in 17th Century Paris by the prestigious Savonnerie Manufactory. Made popular by King Louis XIII, Savonneries became the carpet of choice for the French crown thereafter. These pile rugs are fine in texture and display decorative floral designs adorned with playful elements such as leafy motifs, baskets, ribbons, and medallions.

Rag Weave is typically made in Nepal using our Shakti Weave with silk, but this rug was made with Lama Weave in 100% wool. It is likely they were produced for a commercial interior design firm intended for a hotel or elevator lobby. We call such rugs "lonely custom rugs" because while they did not work for the original customer or project, we hope they find a home with someone that will love them for what they are, gorgeous one-of-a-kind sizes of one of our best Walz designs. It's possible that the original customer decided they could not live without silk, or they needed the actual size to be larger. Tufenkian Tibetan all wool Lama Weave is preferred n high traffic commercial spaces. The pile height meets the under one-half-inch ADA requirement and Lama has also been tested for drag/resistance to wheelchairs, etc. Why two rugs? It's probably the plan was to use one and keep the other on hand to rotate when the first rug is being cleaned.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Influenster and Solo Rugs in exchange for my honest review. As a busy dad with zero interior design skills, I usually leave the aesthetics to my wife. But with this rug, even I can tell it's a winner. First off, it looks amazing. My wife called it a 'statement piece's and I think that means it makes the room look fancy without me having to understand why. It fits perfectly in the spot I picked out. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this rug is the reason we don't step on Legos as much anymore. It's durable and holds up to two cats and two kids. Between the kids spilling juice, my cats treating it like a personal racetrack, and me occasionally dropping some coffee, this rug has survived it all. It resists stains like a champ and is super easy to clean-which is great because I'm not exactly in top of vacuuming. Long story short, if you've got a busy family, pets, and questionable decorating skills like myself, this rug is a lifesaver. It looks great, holds up to the chaos, and makes me feel like I actually contributed to the house looking good. Highly recommend!. Nateo2_2975. Fri Jan 24 2025

Handwoven in wool and originating from Brussels, Belgium, this 9x15 Flemish Verdure tapestry from the mid 19th Century is a rare and special new curation from Rug & Kilim—featuring a particularly popular aesthetic with lush foliage and depicting a naturalistic "garden" scene. On the Design:A romantic countryside scene with mature trees creating a natural canopy over a meandering stream or pond, while distant architectural elements suggest a château or manor house that establishes aristocratic context for the bucolic setting. The foreground reveals remarkable naturalistic detail—elegant swans and waterfowl rendered with anatomical precision, scattered throughout the aquatic landscape alongside carefully observed botanical elements including flowering plants, grasses, and varied foliage that demonstrates the designer's encyclopedic knowledge of natural forms. The color palette demonstrates refined French aesthetic sensibility—sophisticated blue-green tonalities creating harmonious foundation while cream and golden accents provide luminous highlights that enhance the design’s inherent romance. The elaborate floral border featuring scrolling vine work and classical motifs creates an architectural framework that elevates the central scene while demonstrating the workshop's mastery of decorative vocabulary. The weaver's skilled hand has executed a vision of aristocratic leisure here, where every delicate petal and architectural detail speaks to the period's discerning taste, making this piece a rare testament to the enduring allure of Flemish weaving tradition. This French needlepoint tapestry functions as museum-quality wall hanging ideal for traditional interiors celebrating European decorative arts heritage. The sophisticated palette and pastoral imagery complement formal libraries, dining rooms, or reception areas requiring cultural gravitas and artistic distinction. Condition: This Antique French Needlepoint tapestry further enjoys good condition for its age and origin—intended for use in wall-hanging projects only.

Rug & Kilim presents a poetic 19th-century masterpiece with this handwoven natural silk Japanese tapestry runner. Luminous and refined, the piece features red-crowned cranes poised gracefully amidst textured pine foliage. Set against a glowing golden amber ground evocative of twilight, the composition captures a serene landscape with painterly precision and intricate tonal variation. The design honors traditional aesthetics through deliberate asymmetry and an airy use of negative space, allowing each hand-stitched motif to breathe. This rug is the perfect size to add a splash of color and texture to my living room. The rug is handwoven from organic cotton, which results in a soft and durable rug. I love the beautiful green color of the rug, which really brings the room alive, and it's the perfect shade to compliment the other colors in the room. The quality of the rug is excellent, with a tight weave that ensures it won't pull or tear easily. The edges are finished nicely, and the rug is thick and cushioned. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the rug has held up to use and washing so far. It's been a great addition to my home and I'm sure it will last for many years to come.. Arav. Wolverhampton. Lavender Oriental Carpets
This attractive decorative carpet is probably a product of the Ziegler Company a major English firm active in Sultanabad in the 1880-1930 period. The slate blue field is continuously but spaciously filled with unusual palmette angular vine segments and oddly zoomorphic elements in contrast to the mobile field. The narrow light brown main border is more grounded with symmetric palmettes and attendant small leaves. There are small ivory field corners hinting of largely unseen repeating medallions. This carpet works well with the Traditional Design or with a more eclectic Shabby Elegance decor.

Hand-knotted in wool and originating from France circa 1740-1750, this 11x15 antique rug is a rare acquisition in both period and design—possibly among the works of Jean-Joseph Dumonds. On the Design: Connoisseurs will admire this design which reflects a European interpretation of Ottoman “medallion ushak” design, sometimes spelled “Oushak” in our craft. Its play of medallion and all over repeat depicts elaborate floral patterns in vines, garlands and palmettes with rich detail. Keen eyes will admire the rich colorway of raspberry and bordeaux red tones underscores the patterns, which favor gold, beige, and a delicious jewel tone blue among the colors at play. Admirers of the craft will further appreciate this as a curaton from the Rothschild family collection—an irreplaceable masterpiece of Neoclassical art, and a particularly beloved example of an Oriental design recaptured for the European market which always yields such rare, collectible works as these. This is a regal work of 18th century history which echoes the fascination with 'the Orient' in eighteenth-century Europe and the influence of European royals, particularly in Tudor and Elizabethan England, who were avid collectors of Ottoman carpets, inspiring an emergent class of ambitious nobility to emulate them. It’s a masterpiece of countless subtleties, teeming with the feminine beauty and regal sensibility that embodies this transitional neoclassical style. As our principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal likes to call it among the most sophisticated weaving styles of history, this particular piece features architectural borders and detailed medallions. Condition: This antique Aubusson rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, following some visible restoration—ready for the floor and worthy of the most sophisticated projects.

Made with hand-knotted wool in France circa 1940-1950, this 13x16 vintage French Art Deco rug is an extremely collectible piece from Leleu Decorateur—the work of an iconic family label known for their impact on an iconic design movement. On the Design: A gold and beige-brown open field underscores a border of geometric patterns in hues blue and red—a unique minimalist design, elegant yet striking in its exceptional use of a humble palette and subtlety. Admirers of the craft will recognize this as both an exemplar of its kind and a rare find for its size, its particular beige-brown colorway, and its overall condition—a treasure, embodying the same unique principles of French Deco that began with Jules Leleu and continued with his children Paule, André, and Jean when they took over the business in the years that yielded this period piece. It’s a smart piece in its sense of depth and dimensionality, and one of few oversized rugs of its provenance in such an exceptional state known today. ConditionThis vintage Leleu rug further enjoys an overall good condition for its age and origin.
