This is so elegant and lovely. Although it is a 'solid' color, like human hair it is made of many fine threads of different colors including a subtle gold throughout. It will go with anything because this creates depth, dimension and texture. It is very soft to touch. Although the strands are long, they are woven thick enough to cover the bottom. You do not see the backing at all. The only negative was an initial musty smell which went away after airing a bit - I rested it on a couple of luggage racks with the ceiling fan on. I was a little nervous about buying this rug on-line without being able to see the colors in person ahead of time but it is very true to the colors in the photo and is PERFECT in my dining room that is purple and silver.
