Based on a 16th Century Spanish rug, curling dragons in the border were replaced by acanthus scrolls. A ground of olive and celery greens is overlaid by motifs in gold, straw, and camel. This hand-made cut and loop pile rug was made by combining a loop weave invented by Asmara with the ancient French Savonnerie pile weave. Woven with a complex yarn made up of several yarns of different shades, this rug has a unique texture and shading variations reminiscent of rare antique rugs. Delivery was more than great (2 days!) and carpet arrived in good condition. No tears, no uneven wear. But it didn't look like the carpet in the posted photograph. The colors were much more faded and quite flat. This carpet photographs much brighter with more saturated colors than in real life; the colors are even more flat than the photo I uploaded. (Unless you zoom in. My photo zoomed in it looks more true to life.) There is absolutely no orange in the carpet as one might assume based on the advertised posting.
