Handwoven in Turkey originating between 1950-1960, this vintage midcentury wool Kilim hails from the city of Malatya, one of our collection’s uncommon but welcomed rarities from Eastern Anatolia with a distinct pattern and colorway. The juxtaposition of the rippling, mesmerically repeating diamond field pattern and the departure from that in the border is a visually intriguing element offering movement to the piece, leading the eye to appreciate the prevalently warm-meets-muted hues as well as the black accents; a portrait of skillful contrast suited to a variety of projects with a versatile size.

This vintage rug depicts an uncommon abundance of culturally significant symbols. Flat-woven in high-quality fabric, each alternating row features a completely individualistic array of stars - Turkish symbols of happiness and good fortune.
