Hand-knotted in wool, in Turkey circa 1950-1960, this 6x15 runner kilim features a refined diamond medallion design with intricate geometric patterning on a red field, an exceptional example of mid-century Meshkin kilim craftsmanship. This piece represents Meshkin's golden period (1950-1970) when village workshops sustained centuries-old slit-weave techniques while serving domestic and export markets. On the Design:Meshkin kilims occupy a distinctive position within flat-weave hierarchy—neither purely tribal nor workshop-refined, representing village production achieving geometric sophistication through generations of design evolution. Three concentric diamond formations descend the coral red field in vertical progression, each medallion employing nested layers that create optical depth of impressive nature—outer ivory perimeter frames a secondary cruciform zone surrounding a miniature geometric core. The coral ground provides a saturated foundation making ivory elements achieve maximum contrast. Ivory borders employ reciprocal zigzag progressions creating kinetic energy that activates perimeter while multiple guard bands balance central medallions' visual weight. This piece demonstrates technical mastery where it maintains pattern clarity across complex medallion vocabularies. Investment-grade village kilim combining tribal authenticity with design.Condition:This vintage Meshkin rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.

Hand-knotted in lush, high-pile wool in Sweden circa 1960-1970, this 4x6 vintage Swedish Rya rug is a bold new addition to Rug & Kilim’s curation of iconic, collectible mid-century Scandinavian rugs of this provenance. On the Design:Connoisseurs will appreciate this striking rug as a sublime example of the Swedish Rya tradition, utilizing geometric precision within a bold, tonal palette. The upper field is defined by tall, architectural spires, while the lower sections transition into a series of arches and a bold, saw-tooth zigzag. The color story is intense and monochromatic, dominated by varying shades of magenta, raspberry, and deep plum. This interaction of nested shapes and tonal shifts creates a visual depth, with the pile's natural shading making the saturated hues appear mottled and dimensional. This rug is a highly dimensional work of textile art, perfectly suited for an interior needing both authentic vintage texture and a passionate, focused aesthetic. Its towering linework and rich pile would make a stunning impact in a Postmodern and maximalist setting.Condition:This vintage Swedish rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.

Rug & Kilim
Hand-knotted in wool circa 1960-1970, this 4x6 vintage rug is an exciting new piece in Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a rare curation believed to hail from mid-century Turkish artist and icon Zeki Müren. On The Design:Connoisseurs may note the bright red field underscores twin geometric patterns and curving arcs—hallmarks of Müren’s mid-century interpretation of Art Deco rugs and patterns. Admirers of the craft will appreciate both the use of more playful, unexpected colors for such a pattern, as well as the general negotiation of smart, yet whimsical beauty that speaks to Müren’s many talents—known by many in our field as an eclectic student of his craft. His works are both approachable and sophisticated, and this is an exemplary fiend in both regards; as much a work of modern art as a rug ahead of its time. Both this talent for making a classic his own and quality of work, too, speak to Müren as a student of his craft, and make his works as collectible to the connoisseur as they are inviting and whimsical to designers. Condition: This vintage Turkish rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Connoisseurs and collectors will note this rug is among the few full-pile pieces believed to remain of Müren’s works, making it especially rare and collectible.

Hand-knotted in wool, circa 1950-1959, this 5x8 vintage rug is a vibrant, architectural addition to Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Modern collection. This piece functions as a bold, kinetic canvas that honors the iconic, avant-garde geometric abstraction of the mid-20th century through a highly tactile, expertly woven lens. On the Design: The 1950s marked a radical and exciting shift in Turkish textile design. As global Mid-Century Modernism began to influence regional looms, weavers transitioned away from strictly traditional floral motifs, experimenting instead with the bold, asymmetrical geometry and pure color blocking championed by modernist art movements. This exceptional vintage rug perfectly captures the zeitgeist of that era, featuring a revolutionary layout of overlapping concentric circles and an asymmetric, mosaic-like web pattern. For contemporary designers and collectors alike, this piece is a masterclass in dynamic color theory and spatial geometry. The canvas is grounded by a rich, deeply saturated crimson red field, which is boldly overlaid with massive, glowing orange orbs and an intricate, moss-green structural lattice. This green webbing acts as a framework, encapsulating unexpected, puzzle-like color blocks of soft pastel pink and muted slate blue, giving the textile the luminous, fractured quality of modernist stained glass. It is a rare, highly expressive textile asset, brilliantly proportioned to energize a creative corridor, anchor a bold retro-inspired vignette, or serve as a vibrant, guiding focal point in a curated contemporary home. One of the great artists of the 20th century, Lichtenstein is renowned for his unique aesthetic, which shares similarities with early twentieth century pulp and comic art. Here is a dynamic and exciting vintage carpet. a vintage Pop art tapestry rug from the middle of the twentieth century featuring a beautiful image crafted after the peerless Roy Lichtenstein. One of the most celebrated artists of the twentieth century, Lichtenstein is renowned for his unique and avant-garde aesthetic, which shares similarities with early twentieth century pulp and comic art. Before Lichtenstein began creating gallery worthy art depicting mid-century figures colored in dots and drawn with heavy black lines, this style was regarded as unappealing. sort of as the lowest common denominator in the art world. After Lichtenstein, however, the entire notion of high art and low art began to disintegrate. This charming carpet, which features a simple still life composition, offers a great deal of insight into the nature of Lichtensteins unique aesthetic. In the mid-19th century, a scene like this would have been rendered in an impressionist aesthetic; in the mid-20th century, however, that would no longer be appropriate. Lichtenstein was a unique figure whose vision moved the entire art world forward.
