Lavender Oriental Carpets
Gabbeh rugs in colorful, totally abstract styles, are a recent innovation and one of the best things to happen to the oriental rug in a long time. What can be bolder than a plain orange diamond medallion set on an equally undecorated slate reserve, further set within abashed triangular corners? How informal and yet how rigorous in the best design sense. "Gabbeh" means "unclipped" and antique oriental tribal examples have a shaggy pile in natural sheep wool tones, but modern pieces are more compact with shorter, erect piles. These pieces are totally abstract and value impact over ornament. The square format allows the central motif room to expand in the viewer's eye.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Influenster and Solo Rugs in exchange for my honest review. As a busy dad with zero interior design skills, I usually leave the aesthetics to my wife. But with this rug, even I can tell it's a winner. First off, it looks amazing. My wife called it a 'statement piece's and I think that means it makes the room look fancy without me having to understand why. It fits perfectly in the spot I picked out. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this rug is the reason we don't step on Legos as much anymore. It's durable and holds up to two cats and two kids. Between the kids spilling juice, my cats treating it like a personal racetrack, and me occasionally dropping some coffee, this rug has survived it all. It resists stains like a champ and is super easy to clean-which is great because I'm not exactly in top of vacuuming. Long story short, if you've got a busy family, pets, and questionable decorating skills like myself, this rug is a lifesaver. It looks great, holds up to the chaos, and makes me feel like I actually contributed to the house looking good. Highly recommend!. Nateo2_2975. Fri Jan 24 2025

This vintage 6x6 square kilim is a mid-century Palas Bidjari tribal rug, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.On the Design: This vintage square kilim presents the apotheosis of minimalist textile architecture through vertical striping of breathtaking sophistication and earthy chromatic discipline. Each stripe maintains individual character through subtle tonal variations that demonstrate the mastery characteristic of Palas Bidjari tribal workshops. The monochromatic palette achieves extraordinary sophistication through subtle tonal variations within the earth spectrum—warm taupe, cool mushroom, deep umber, and luminous camel create depth through graduated chromatic progression rather than contrasting intensity. This restricted vocabulary transforms simple linear repetition into meditation on light, shadow, and architectural space. Most compelling is the kilim's ability to function as both neutral backdrop and dynamic focal point depending on surrounding context. The earth-tone palette provides warmth without overwhelming adjacent elements, while the stripe rhythm adds directional energy ideal for activating rectangular spaces. Condition: This mid-century Palas Bidjari Square Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.

The colorway is one of the most delicious elements here, where a rich brown field underscored the medallions and floral patterns in green, pink, beige, and blue tones among others. So too is the detailing, not just in the quintessential sense of impressionism of an Aubusson like those in the cartouches, but in the graceful subtlety of the field’s execution of muted florals. This brings more attention to the finesse of their execution, and an element dimension that’s exceptional even for this provenance renowned for its works of majesty and detail. It’s also a versatile-sized rug, with a particularly large size with vast applications in interior design today. Keen eyes for detail will appreciate the studied balance achieved through the placement of the central yellow house with its distinctive black-outlined gable roof, flanked by stylized evergreen trees that anchor the left side of the design and balanced by a bare deciduous tree on the right—creating a perfect visual harmony through opposing seasonal elements. The colorway demonstrates exceptional restraint, employing a winter-white field that conveys the snow-covered landscape, with the warm yellow of the house providing a compelling focal point against this cool background. The deep chocolate brown border frames the scene effectively while echoing the fence line at the composition's foreground. This square rug has featured not just a scene but a moment in time—winter's quiet transformation of the rural landscape, with the house standing as a symbol of warmth and shelter amid the season's starkness. The simple rail fence in the foreground creates both compositional depth and a symbolic boundary, inviting the viewer into this intimate winter vignette.
