Rug & Kilim
Hand-knotted in wool, this 7x7 square rug is a sophisticated addition to Rug & Kilim’s Art Deco collection. This piece functions as a dynamic, architectural canvas that honors historic French Deco geometric motifs through a bold, contemporary lens. On the Design: This contemporary square rug offers a breathtaking reinterpretation of 1920s French Art Deco aesthetics. The French Deco movement emerged as a dramatic departure from the ornate, highly traditional European designs of the past, favoring instead the radical elegance of Cubism, streamlined forms, and modernist spatial arrangements. This piece honors that revolutionary spirit by anchoring the layout with a stark, minimalist square medallion rendered in a muted, serene beige. Radiating outward from this quiet, unadorned center is a kinetic, explosive geometric pattern reminiscent of shattered glass or modernist mosaic. These dynamic, jagged motifs create a mesmerizing sense of structural movement, rendered in an earthy yet industrial palette of warm rust orange, sleek slate gray, and muted beige. This deliberate, powerful contrast between the still central void and the vigorous, shattered border perfectly captures the avant-garde energy of the roaring twenties. Today, this iconic aesthetic serves as a profound statement piece, bringing structural sophistication and a vibrant, architectural energy to curated, design-forward spaces that crave both high-style history and a contemporary edge. Part of VIBRA, renowned designer Greg Natale's second collection designed exclusively for Art Hide, Amur is an audacious interpretation of leopard print where the pattern exudes confidence, glamour and an unmistakably exotic allure. Amur brings its leopard-inspired pattern to life in natural cowhide with a playful sense of irony - a wry nod to its wild inspiration. Teal, olive and black layer together in a rich, jewel-toned trio, giving Amur's wild pattern a deep, moody sophistication. Amur is brought to life using Art Hide's proprietary Fusion technique, a stitchless method that bonds hide pieces together with adhesive under compression for a flawlessly seamless finish. Hides are cut and fused with precision so the pattern moves across the surface uninterrupted. The result is a fine, dense construction of around 2-3mm (0.08-0.12 inches) thick, keeping the rug supple underfoot while remaining hardwearing. Amur can be customised in colour, shape and size. Made with hand-knotted wool and velvet in France circa 1880-1890, this 5x14 gallery runner is a rare antique French Savonnerie rug among the most exciting new curations from Rug & Kilim’s European rug collection. On the Design: Admirers of the craft will note this late-19th-century piece is still a reimagining of the Regency style of the 1715-17123 period. Its design is an elegant series of floral patterns and curvaceous garlands that beautifully recapture the neoclassical and regency aesthetic. The border enjoys mascaron tile-like geometric patterns, enfolding a field of sweeping palmettes, cornucopias of fruit, and other finely woven botanical and pictorial elements. Though its polychromatic colorway is one of its many beauties, there are especially present gold, beige-brown and tangerine red hues, as well as blue accents among the many at play. The meticulous attention to fine details of the design, too, exemplifies works of this tradition—a purposeful and intentional piece of graceful air and presence. Admirers of the craft will further note what a rare find works in the gallery size are from this provenance—a collectible piece, equally suitable to wall-hanging projects as a tapestry in its size and sensibility as it is to flooring projects. Condition:This antique Savonnerie runner rug has undergone minor restoration and retrimming, and enjoys an overall good condition.

Handwoven in natural silk and cotton, this 7x4 contemporary Ghanaian tapestry is a sophisticated masterpiece in Rug & Kilim's curation. This piece reinterprets traditional Kente strip-weaving ancestry into a sharp avant-garde grid. This contemporary tapestry serves as a remarkable cross-cultural dialogue between West African tribal heritage and European Bauhaus modernism. The design reveals a sophisticated architectural layout heavily reminiscent of the 'spectro-structures' and stage designs of Xanti Schawinsky. The composition utilizes a rigorous grid to house 3D-modeled numbers and geometric cylinders, each casting its own illusion of perspective inside deep, box-like rooms. A network of fine linear embroidery overlays the work, echoing the industrial precision of the mid-century avant-garde.The African design thoughts remain central to the narrative, expressed through the rhythmic, staccato-like arrangement of forms that mirror the mathematical precision of traditional Kente and Ewe panel weaving. The technical brilliance lies in its complex textural topography; the shimmering natural silk captures the light with a striking modern energy, while the cotton foundation grounds the piece in traditional hand-spun craft.
