Without a doubt, artist Roy Lichtenstein is one of the most important artists of the latter half of the 20th century. Lichtenstein pop art works were based on images taken from mainstream advertisements and comic strips. In his art, Roy Lichtenstein rendered the images in the crude forms that one would find in newspaper production. He went on to produce a large body of work that consists of more than 5,000 paintings, murals, drawings, rugs and sculptures. In this striking art rug Lichtenstein masterfully embodies the character, color and use of line and form that make his work so recognizable.
