The Rare Weaves: Kazak collection draws inspiration from antique patterns. This collection is a nod to the history of Caucasian Armenian carpet weaving. Each rug is hand-made using the nomadic style wool warp and wept foundation of high-quality Armenian wool. The Kazak designs hail from the western region of Armenia. Each features vibrant colors and bold, archetypal designs. A tribal Armenian Kazak weave rug, the Bordjalu rugs feature a simpler design, particularly latch hooks in large-scale motifs. Bordjalu is a bold, archetypal design executed in vibrant colors of madder red, olive green, deep navy blue, and ivory. This rug is among the most distinctive Armenian carpet designs, incorporating deeply meaningful symbols into the bright and energetic palettes. This Bordjalu rug is hand-knotted of 100% Armenian wool on a wool foundation and adorned in wool fringe. Historically the Bordjalu rugs were woven in a district just south of Tiflis and has a pile height of around a third of an inch.
