The Small Scatter Size Antique 19th Century Chinese Ningxia Medallion Rug is an exceptional example of late Qing Dynasty weaving from the 1880s. Hand-knotted in China using high-quality wool, this rectangular rug features a sophisticated palette of gold, mustard, and soft beige, accented by navy blue and terracotta. The design showcases a classic Ningxia tradition with a dense gold field and a prominent circular central medallion. Angular stepped spandrels and a geometric Greek key border provide visual balance and auspicious symbolism. With a 0.5-inch pile height, this small scatter size rug is ideal for defining transitional spaces, hallways, or dressing rooms. Its masterful geometric patterns and subtle color shifts reflect the unique aesthetic of 19th-century Chinese craftsmanship.
