Hand-knotted in wool and silk, this 9x12 contemporary rug from Rug & Kilim features geometric patterns with a modern appearance—drawing on the primitivist Berber tribal designs. On the Design: A rich, lush pile in orange, green and beige tones underscores a subtle geometric diamond pattern, enjoying the almost abstract feel Moroccan tribal rugs celebrate in their impressionistic beaty. Keen eyes will note the subtle sense of movement in the underlying striae, and its natural complement to the sense of dimension the geometry enjoys atop. Admirers of the craft will further appreciate the adaptation of this old-world style to a large-size, scale, and intricate look—one that both reimagines its many beauties for the modern home while still recapturing the beauty of Moroccan tribal weaving as well.
