Hand-knotted in wool, this modern rug design is a new addition to Rug & Kilim’s French Art Deco rug collection—a contemporary ode to the 1920s style moderne, with geometric patterns in the style of a Leleu or Da Bruhns aesthetic period piece. On the Design: This modern rug features a subtle refinement in the texture, detail, and adaptation of 1920s look in a current high-end quality of this rug. A cream and silver field underscores geometric patterns in beige-brown, cream and gray tones, with subtle accents in gold the keen eye will note. Admirers of the craft will further note the equally subtle addition of a high-and-low texture, which lends the geometry a fabulous contemporary sense of depth and dimensionality that plays beautifully with the French Deco sensibility. These and many other meticulous elements, from the attention to large-scale adaptation and a lush, cozy pile represents a thoughtful reimagining of this European movement in a modern, luxury quality—nearly indistinguishable from its inspirations, save the more durable body for today’s interiors.
