This contemporary Dhurrie flat weave is an exciting new entry in Rug & Kilim’s esteemed custom-capable collection. Handwoven in cotton, it’s a modern take on antique and vintage Dhurrie flatweaves by one of the best partner looms in our craft, specifically led by a devoted collector and student of these Dhurries whose collaboration has allowed us to make the most meaningful contribution to the style. On the Design: A navy blue field underscores bright white stripes and geometric patterns, in a simple, yet fabulously executed repeat with sharp detail and flawless symmetry. Admirers of the craft and keen eyes may further appreciate the subtle look of abrashed patina and striation within the stripes—an intricate and thoughtful revival of the classic look of Kilims and similar pieces brought to a more livable, modern quality. It’s a work of warm, welcoming presence and smart balance alike, with vast design applications today.
