Handwoven in a wool flatweave, this 9x11 rug is a new unveiling from the European rug collection by Rug & Kilim—one of its earliest works, inspired by antique Aubusson rugs and tapestries. On the design: Admirers of the craft will appreciate this representation of the 18th century Neoclassical style—particularly in its fine details and elegant sensibility. Keen eyes may further admire especially present tones of red and gray, as well as the subtle variety of such complementary accents that paint such an immersive portrait. It’s a masterpiece of countless subtleties, regal golden borders and geometric medallions with floral patterns of a particular architectural beauty, teeming with the feminine beauty and regal sensibility that embodies this transitional style— among the most sophisticated weaving styles of history.
