This hand-knotted wool 6x9 rug is an exciting new design in Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection— an eclectic transitional design, inspired by vintage and antique rugs in a unique play of sensibilities. On the Design: A cream border and field underscore blue and yellow in a most creative play of traditional floral patterns with a traditional flair. Admirers of the craft may see an influence from Turkish Oushaks in its playful, almost feminine take on classic patterns, as well as a European sensibility in its fine curvature and dense, elaborate all over floral patterns. Keen eyes will further admire the outstanding sense of depth in the medallions, achieved through detail and use of color alone, making it a particularly special piece of meticulous craft. It’s both an elegant choice for the modern space and a thoughtful contribution to one of the most regal provenances in handmade Oriental rugs.
