Hand-knotted in a luxurious blend of wool and silk, this 3x10 runner rug from Rug & Kilim’s Modern Collection is a bold new exploration of open field design and pictorials. On the Design: A palette of teal green and blue tones underscores both the open field and border alike—the latter of which enjoys large-scale floral patterns and animal illustrations. Keen eyes will admire these pictorials as depictions of spotted jungle cats—most closely resembling leopards, cheetahs, or jaguars—peering out at prey between the leaves. Admirers of the craft will appreciate the playful use of perspective, as well as the execution in this variety of colors, fine drawing, and refined texture. It’s a graphic, dramatic piece, both unique among contemporary rugs with traditional elements and exemplary in its sense of movement, life, and attitude. Its versatile size further offers vast design applications, particularly well-suited to narrow spaces, hallways, entryways and similar rooms.
