A vintage 3x6 Persian Gabbeh rug, from the latest grand entry to Rug & Kilim’s curation of rare tribal pieces. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960. On the Design: This mid-century piece features diamond medallions in orange, brown and blue — motifs sometimes called lozenges in tribal vernacular. These rich and vibrant colors enjoy a notably natural sense of movement and warmth atop the gray abrashed background. Keen eyes will note colorful accents and borders in with a lively touch to this classic, cultured piece. A playful employ of archaic design exemplifies works of this provenance—among the most primitive, collectible shabby elegance styles. A delicious pile piece in good condition.
