Handwoven in a wool flatweave originating from Turkey circa 1950-1960, this vintage Kilim rug enjoys a mid-century Bessarabian Kilim style popular to European and Romanian ancestry, seen particularly in the distinctive geometric floral patterns in this seldom-seen play of a rich beige-brown with pink, green, and yellow colorways in the field especially. Connoisseurs will note the rarity of this piece, particularly in the signature seen in the upper field (likely connoting the weave of this vintage Bessarabian Kilim or a lineage devoted to this craft), as much a factor in the collectibility as this very comfortable colorway, soothing medallion style movement, and a versatile size—well-suited to hallways, runners, and stairways among many applications to interior design. A very collectible Kilim rug in notably good condition.
