Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.On the Design:This tribal provenance is one of the most primitive, and collectible shabby elegance styles in handmade nomadic rugs. Exceptional Gabbehs like this are known for their thick, lush pile, rich colors and archaic geometric patterns. This design enjoys beige-brown and gray colors, and emphasis on bold geometry and intricate, yet comfortable trellis style. Connoisseurs will further admire pictorial animal patterns between the lozenges in the rich red accents. It’s especially rare to see such a minimalist take on these figures in this style, further lending to this rug's outstanding rarity. An exemplar of classic charm and folk art as much as a handmade rug with versatile size and vast design applications. Further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
