Hand knotted in wool, this 9x13 contemporary rug “Gateway to Heaven” features a design that plays abstract minimalist and Bauhaus moods. On the Design:This design features a play of geometric patterns and gradation in white and black tones that create one of the most modern pieces in our collection. Admirers of the craft may particularly enjoy the positive-negative element in this rug’s use of contrast, though it’s still quite a smart and reserved piece, bold yet simple—often the mark of a masterpiece. Our take on gradation in this piece—a subtle yet tasteful element that makes such a comfortable, cozy piece also one of our most modern in its subtle quality. It’s a simple, yet fabulously evocative piece that speaks to the beauty of rugs as works of modern art—both a smart, sophisticated choice and naturally a comfortable, neutral option in its tones and sensibility.
