Hand-knotted in wool, this modern 7x10 Moroccan rug by Rug & Kilim represents an exciting new line of modern tribal rugs. Its design explores a unique play of minimalism and primitivist Berber sensibilities in a bold interpretation of both styles. On the Design: This new collection is handmade by some of the most devoted nomadic weavers in rural Morocco, both keeping a rich tradition alive and helping it to flourish with new possibilities today. This particular rug’s marriage of lush, high-pile wool in a high-and-low textural style plays rich aubergine purple tones in a subtle, gorgeous fashion. It’s a feat to play that modern sense of dimension with the textural beauty of primitivist styles in this large size and more durable, modern construction. This speaks to the soul of this line of our collection—a contribution of current capabilities to a time-honored craft.
