Originating from India between 1880-1890, this antique polonaise rug enjoys especially uncommon rose pink background, tactfully accenting other naturalist colorways and the sharpness of this piece’s overall drawing. Presenting a distinct array of bright and rich blue, green, beige, and red colorways, the dimensionality created by this medallion-style field design’s subtle maroon background is complementary to the uplifted wrapping border, ripe with lotus and lancet leave depictions widely believed to symbolize rebirth befitting this piece’s warm tones and welcome, versatile length.
