Originating from China in 1900, this antique Hand-knotted Peking rug embraces iconic elements of early Chinese Art Deco patterns with a distinguished series of symbols among its kind. Featuring high-quality wool in pristine condition, the abashed copper-brown background is accented graciously by the distinct blue in the unforgivingly sharp medallion and border patterns, further complemented by the rare kirin (or lion dog) designs in the field believed to represent a dramatic change in history or the death of an emperor; a unique pairing of beautifully stylistic and thematically enriching patterns adding to this rug’s rarity and versatile appeal.
