Hand-knotted in natural silk, this contemporary 2x10 runner joins Rug & Kilim’s Block Print collection, translating the character of traditional block printing into a bold monochromatic design with ikat-inspired motifs and sculpted high-low texture.
On the Design:
This contemporary runner presents a dramatic interpretation of traditional block printing through a rhythmic arrangement of elongated ikat-inspired motifs. Set against a rich charcoal-black ground, the ivory forms evoke the imperfect beauty of hand-stamped textiles, where softened edges and subtle tonal variation celebrate the artisanal nature of the craft. The repeating design creates a striking sense of movement while maintaining the quiet balance and restraint that define refined contemporary design.
The beauty of the piece lies equally in its craftsmanship. Hand-knotted in natural silk, the carved high-low pile creates remarkable depth, allowing the raised motifs to shimmer against the darker field as they catch changing light. The contrast between the luminous silk and the matte ground enriches the design with sculptural dimension, making this runner an elegant statement for hallways, entryways, and transitional spaces seeking a sophisticated blend of heritage craftsmanship and modern minimalism.
