Handwoven in wool originating from Turkey circa 1950-1960, this item is a vintage floral Bessarabian kilim, affording a romantic touch to a room akin to the Romanian kilim style inspired in its design. On a black background, two bouquets of bright red roses with green leaves appear in circular shapes within the center of the piece. A border of smaller, dainty roses in red and pink are connected through green leaves and brown vines. In each of the four corners of the center sit a smaller bouquet of roses sitting on light green leaves. The center of this vintage Turkish rug is bordered by a rose garland with pink-and-red blooms surrounded by green flowers that stretches along the edge of the piece’s perimeter while set on a beige background. This romantic piece would fit nicely in a master suite of a home, with possibilities in living room and dining room projects as well as gallery projects remarking its uncommonly spacious dimensions for a European kilim.
