• The area rugs from Morocco have always held a fascination in the world of interior design. They add a primitive feel to the room and a sense of connection to nature. They are reminiscent of a tribal people living close to the earth and honoring traditions that go back a millennium. Now, designers attempt to capture this same feeling of peace and balance within the space by using our modern Moroccan rugs as a foundation for their interior designs.
• Many rugs of the Beni Ourain tribes contain bold, geometric designs, but one favorite type of rug has no discernible design and relies on natural shifts in color. This style of rug mimics the shades of shifting sands, the layers in sandstone cliffs, and natural animal hides. These nature inspired modern Moroccan rugs hold a special place in the world of design, and this rug from Afghanistan captures the essence of this tradition.
• The natural feel of this modern Moroccan inspired area rug makes it perfect for a room with other nature-inspired pieces. It is an excellent foundation for a room that incorporates natural basketry, primitive natural wood artwork, or maybe a few bold pieces of textured fiber arts. This rug makes a beautiful addition to a room with minimalist furniture that features square metal legs and plenty of space underneath.
• Mid-century Modern designers often relied on Moroccan rugs to serve as a contrast to space-age furniture with hard edges and simple geometric shapes. Now, designers use them in many of the same ways to soften modern furniture with simple, angular designs. Regardless of where you decide to use this rug, it will add a soft texture in both look and feel. It is a perfect way to create any interior space that is warm and welcoming and not restricted to Moroccan interiors specifically.
