Very nice quality rug, tightly woven, and colors look very close to the photo online. They are rich but muted. The red is almost a red-brown. My only complaint is that it is described as "hand-knotted", which means there should be a plush cut pile on the top, and knots on the underside. But this is actually a flat-weave rug - thinner and has no pile. Not exactly a soft surface, but not scratchy either. Acceptably comfortable to bare feet, but will definitely require a good felt rug pad to feel ok underfoot, or to sit on the floor, which I like to do in front of the fire. It has a good weight and does not wrinkle or slip at the edges.

I am absolutely in awe of this stunning piece of artwork. I deeply admire these Persian village women who created this hand knotted area rug over one hundred and twenty years ago. There is so much history wrapped up in this small treasure of mine now. As an art historian and history major in university I feel I have made a wonderful discovery of art at its finest from the 20th century.

It was not what I expected. I will be returning this item.
