This Late 19th Century Ivory Antique Caucasian Dagestan Prayer Design Tribal Rug is an exceptional example of Caucasian weaving from the 1890s. Hand knotted with a dense wool pile, this piece captures the robust geometric artistry characteristic of the region. The primary foundation features a luminous, aged ivory color that contrasts strikingly with saturated natural dyes in rich indigo, warm terracotta, and subtle pale blue. Its central field displays an engaging allover repeating pattern of stylized diamonds and cruciform elements, framed by multiple finely articulated borders. Ideal for a hallway or study, this small scatter size rug represents a pinnacle of nomadic artistry with enduring decorative appeal.
