Based on an original Asmara painting inspired by 17th-century Persian silk brocades at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The recurring pattern of flower heads cupped inside curving vines is rendered in the ground. This handmade cut and loop pile rug was made by combining a loop weave invented by Asmara with the ancient French Savonnerie pile weave. Woven with a complex yarn made up of several yarns of different shades, this rug has a unique texture and shading variations reminiscent of rare antique rugs.
