This is an antique one-of-a-kind 8'0" x 11'0" Rectangle rug, hand knotted in wool in China in the 1920s. A striking antique rose-pink Chinese Art Deco, hand-knotted in wool in China around 1920. This one-of-a-kind piece showcases a scenic pictorial across a rose-pink palette, and measures 8'0" x 11'0". Chinese Art Deco rugs emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, when weavers in Tianjin - most famously in the workshops associated with Walter Nichols - paired traditional Chinese craft with the bold, asymmetrical, modern aesthetic of the Art Deco movement. The result is a distinctive look: spacious fields, oversized blossoms and a fresh, painterly use of color. At a true room size it will anchor a living or dining room, framing a seating group or sitting comfortably under a dining table. The soft rose tones flatter warm neutrals, brass and natural linen. Hand-knotted from durable wool, it is made to be lived with and handed down.
