This Large Hand Knotted Pile Wool Rectangle Antique 1920s Coral / Salmon Pink Rug is a stunning example of early 20th-century craftsmanship from China. Featuring a vibrant salmon coral pink field, the rug is framed by a deep olive green border for a striking visual contrast. The design showcases delicate botanical imagery, including trailing vines, stylized peonies, and songbirds in shades of gold, blue, and white. Its sparse, asymmetrical composition reflects modernist design principles, moving away from traditional centralized medallions. Hand-knotted from high-quality wool with a 0.5-inch pile height, this large-scale textile serves as a monumental statement piece for grand living rooms or dining halls. This authentic antique rug combines traditional Chinese pictorial elements with a bold color palette to create a sophisticated and enduring aesthetic.
