This Navy Blue Field Antique Floral Medallion Hand Knotted Pile Chinese Peking Rug is an exceptional example of 1920s Chinese Art Deco weaving. The expansive, deep indigo field provides a dramatic contrast to the sparse, stylized motifs, including a central circular medallion featuring a pair of golden birds. Woven with a luxurious wool pile, this rectangular rug exhibits a soft sheen and high density. The wide, contrasting tan border is adorned with scrolling vines, while the corners feature naturalistic depictions of cream-colored butterflies and white blossoms. This hand-knotted piece offers a sophisticated aesthetic and symbolic depth, making it a perfect choice to anchor a formal living space or dining area. Its 0.5-inch pile height and excellent condition preserve the clarity of its original floral and oriental design.
