Fantastic, unique planter for outside our front door. There is a built-in insert that is 6.5" deep with no drainage hole. I place another pot inside the insert instead of planting directly in the planter. I am planning to drill a drainage hole so that I can plant in the planter. An abstract shape drawn by the upper edge and yet an overall inferior outline which appears to be geometric, although flowing from side to side, but never seeming to join, something that catches interest. An ordinary vertical outline holds the object within its own identity. Its overall stretched cartoon-like appearance symbolizes journeys through space at light speed. The fascination is contained in its contrast of a simultaneous unity, yet inner conflict.

The master Eero Aarnio creates his first piece for Vondom. It is, without doubt, a unique element due to its amusing and symbolic design, Peacock Collection. Just as its creator describes, peacocks were part of his childhood, even though their country of origin is very far from Finland. Eero´s home was very close to the Helsinki zoo, which is located on an island where the peacocks, which were imported from India, were free to roam freely since they could not fly away due to their bad flying skills. The peacocks in the zoo both fascinated and scared Eero because when they fanned their tails they were bigger than him. Such memories are the inspiration for the creation of this new plant pot with much symbolism for Eero, who naturally named it “Peacock”, bringing about a reunion with this figure from his childhood. Vondom admires the iconic and timeless creations of Eero Aarnio.
