If left outside, water may accumulate in the container and freeze, causing the planter to crack and break. Planters that must be left outside should be covered to prevent water, snow, and ice from accumulating inside the planter.

Unlike traditional glazed terra cotta, Campania’s cold-painted terra cotta has the clay fired prior to applying the finish. This allows for more consistency of color. Color is hand-applied, so there can still be some variations among pieces. Cold painted terra cotta is designed for indoor use only.

These were nice but not quite worth the price, in my view. They look and feel not too different from something you could get substantially less expensively from a big box store. The sides were bowed out in shipping as well. Also, I hunted around the internet to get the matching square planters - the color (same company, same name, same colorway) was much lighter on these than the others. But - my flowers look great..
