Palampores or tree-of-life patterns have origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand-painted and mordant dyed--then exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Scalamandre's timeless tree-of-life print, Pondicherry, is offered in rich blues on cream crackled porcelain for today's classic interior. The grand scale of the exotic tree is softened with finely detailed flowers and foliage and is accented with small birds and animals. This is typical of this historic and favored fabric design. The Pondicherry quatrefoil planter is scaled for four, 6" diameter plants such as orchids for an easy, yet perfect centerpiece. Place the four plants in the shaped planter, then add the custom florist detail by adding moss as filler for a finishing touch. You may also place a single plant for an elegant statement on the dining table. We also love to use the planters for entertaining. Simply, layer a bubble cushion on the bottom, then adds cubed ice. The planter can then be used for wine or a drinks chiller on the sideboard.

Love the colors and pattern! It coordinates so well with my light blue upholstered dining room chairs in my dining room.. Elizabeth. Little Rock, AR. Mon Jan 30 2023

Flora Scalamandre, wife of Franco, free-handed the signature motif that would come to know as the iconic Sclamandre zebras. The pattern has been celebrated the world over in design and the movies. It was featured in the "Royal Tenenbaums" and "Mightly Aphrodite". Pattern design has grown in color offerings and mediums.

A songbird perched among flowering branches gives this orchid pot from Legend of Asia its charm, the bird motif hand painted in cobalt that pools darker where the brush slows on the curve. Made in a small town in southern China long known as the Capital of Ceramic, each cachepot is hand shaped before a high firing that leaves the blue porcelain dense and fully waterproof, so the planter pot tolerates regular watering, humid bathrooms, and full sun on a terrace. Plant it with an orchid or a fern for a living table centerpiece, drop a nursery pot inside for instant chinoiserie decor on a kitchen island, or move it outdoors as garden decor in warm months. Minor variation in shape and finish is expected in handmade asian decor of this kind.

Beautiful and smiling EVA flowerpot from Bjorn Wiinblad in light green and sand colors. The flowerpot has a diameter of 6.1" and is 5.7" high and can be used to display herbs, trendy succulents, small plants or arranged flower compositions. The Silla twisted flower pot planter from Legend of Asia turns a simple container into something worth looking at. Spiraling ribs are worked into the clay itself, so light travels around the ceramic planter and the form stays interesting even before a plant goes in. A traditional blue white glaze settles into the twists and lifts on the ridges, giving this flower pot depth that a printed pattern could never match. Neatly scaled, the porcelain planter suits succulents, herbs and small trees on a windowsill, console or patio table. Skilled artisans shape, glaze and high-fire every planter pot, producing a sturdy, weather-ready wall that holds up outdoors as durable patio decor. Use it as a succulent pot or cachepot; elegant chinoiserie decor, timeless asian decor and living home decor.

Guardian lions, known to collectors as the foo dog, once flanked temple gates; here Legend of Asia paints one prowling across each square face of a compact orchid pot, framed by scrolling borders in cobalt. The finish is deliberately aged, with soft distress, small chips and a crackled glaze that give the piece the look of a museum artifact rather than a new one, so it reads as vintage decor and layered chinoiserie decor at once. Every porcelain planter is one hundred percent hand shaped and hand painted in the region where Chinese ceramic began, then high fired for strength. At eight inches it takes a standard nursery liner as an indoor planter for phalaenopsis, ferns or ivy, and the blue white planter pot brings weatherproof asian decor to a sunroom or covered porch.

These are gorgeous! Exactly as described but nicer in person. Well packaged, fast shipping. Susan. Spring Hill, TN. Fri Feb 07 2025

Better than the photo. Pleasantly surprised.. Christian. Palm Desert, CA. Sun Jun 05 2022

Swallows dart between open blossoms around the sides of this orchid pot, hand painted in cobalt line work before the glaze goes on, so the placement of each bird differs from one piece to the next. Legend of Asia has the planter pot made in the small southern Chinese town where porcelain was invented, then high fired for a hard, water resistant body that stands up to soil, water and weather. Neatly scaled, the porcelain planter is sized for a small orchid, fern or succulent, an indoor planter that fits a windowsill, dining table or bath counter. Drop a nursery pot inside and it becomes a cachepot; plant it directly and it serves as a flower pot. The blue white palette makes it natural chinoiserie decor and a lasting piece of asian decor.

Beautiful! I love this blue and white planter. Great quality and so pretty! Highly recommend.. Elizabeth. Mon Feb 24 2025

Carp turn through painted water and lotus pads around this Legend of Asia orchid pot, a fish motif that has carried wishes for abundance in Chinese decorative art for centuries. Nothing is simplified for scale: the porcelain planter shows the same fine brushwork as far larger blue white pieces, right down to the individual scales. Shaped by hand and hand painted before a high fire vitrifies the clay, the sealed glaze shrugs off water rings and daily handling. Compact and neatly proportioned, this small planter is the right plant pot for a single orchid, a trailing ivy or a tight cluster of succulents. It makes ideal windowsill decor above a kitchen sink and a welcome small gift for a friend who collects asian decor.

The Painted Love Planter is a simple ceramic vase shouting LOVE!

Black Silla Orchid Pot Twisted Flower.

Birds and open blossoms circle this Legend of Asia orchid pot in fine cobalt line work, a porcelain planter drawn in the manner of imperial period wares. The blue white ground throws green foliage into relief, and the bird motif sits high on the body where leaves and trailing stems will not hide it. Hand shaped and hand painted in a small town in southern China long known as the capital of ceramics, each pot is finished with a high fire that seals the glaze into a dense body that will not weep onto wood. Compact and neatly balanced, this small planter is a plant pot scaled for desks, sills and side tables, suiting a single orchid or a group of succulents, and it moves easily from garden decor on a covered step to chinoiserie decor indoors.

The high-fire porcelain is all handmade in the region where it was invented thousands of years ago. Crafted by small family workshops. Proudly handmade with passion.

Blue & White Lion Drum Shape Planter.

This blue and white porcelain planter from Legend of Asia frames a peony motif in flowing cobalt brushwork, with a small bird perched among the blossoms. The peony has stood for prosperity and honor in Chinese art for centuries. Fired at high heat and hand painted by artisans in southern China, the glaze has the hard, luminous surface collectors look for in true chinoiserie decor. The piece works as a cachepot for orchids and ferns, an indoor planter for a sunny windowsill, or a decorative flower pot on a kitchen counter. Because it is water proof and weather proof, it can also move to a covered porch for the season. The blue white palette pairs naturally with ginger jar groupings, lamps and framed prints, making it easy to fold into existing asian decor or a more traditional room scheme.
