• About three birds and teak is a very hard, densely-grained wood with very high oil content. The unique combination of these characteristics makes teakwood naturally resistant to moisture, rot, warping, shrinking, splintering, insects, fungus, marine borers, and termites making it an ideal material for the production of outdoor furniture. Three Birds is committed to providing teakwood outdoor furniture of the highest standard. They accept only grade A, plantation-grown teak timber from government-managed plantations in the production of their furniture. All of the teakwood used in their products is kiln-dried prior to production. Their products are designed using mortise and tenon joinery with locking wood dowels. Where hardware is necessary, it is of the highest quality brass or, where unseen or internal, or where extra strength is needed, stainless steel. While the color and grain of each piece of three bird furniture might vary, they ensure consistency within the piece by selecting timber of similar color and grain on a piece-by-piece basis. The furniture is then hand-finished to a smooth, "polished" finish using only fine abrasive materials, no oils or waxes are applied to achieve the finish of three birds teakwood furniture prior to delivery to customers.
