Used in the lower level of the two tier system, a steak and also be set on its edge, fat-side-down, leaning against a normal grate in the upper portion allowing the fat to render and flame up over the entire piece of meat for a nice "caveman" style sear.

This item fits the grill perfectly and gave great results on the steaks I have cooked so far. Highly recommended. Next, I want to try the soapstone!
