Riflesso is one of Vistosi’s most iconic lamp collections. In the latter variant the recent restyling by designers Chiaramonte & Marin allows a better diffusion of light. The three sinuous shapes of Riflesso, which are reminiscent of soap bubbles and make lightness and transparency their hallmark, now feature a dual light source. The LED is positioned at the top, where the gold or satin-finished copper structure joins the glass, and at the bottom, at the end of the second structure. Whatever the colour (crystal, pink, amber or smoked), the glass is almost invisible and becomes a simple tool for propagating light. This result is possible thanks to the experience of Vistosi’s master glassmakers who, with skill and craftsmanship, make this precious raw material visible only through the reflection of light, enhancing the concept of simplicity and lightness from which the collection’s concept originates. In Riflesso, therefore, glass becomes light, functionality merges with design, and the ultimate purpose of a lamp is never lost sight of: to illuminate, but at the same time to furnish the environment harmoniously. Hence the careful study of dimensions, which allow Riflesso to adapt to different needs, spaces and contexts, from homes to offices. The double LED source and the greater light diffusion allow the lamp to be used individually even in more spacious environments.

Unpredictable beauty. Light and glass work together to create unimaginable results. When the glass cools, a unique, almost fingerprint-like pattern is revealed, producing a mesmerizing sunburst effect on the wall when the light is on. The Inviso sconce from Cerno uses a palette of familiar wood, metal, and glass with a form that blurs the lines between art and utility.

“Looking to the past to design the present with ideas that look to the future”: this is the design philosophy of architect Francesco Lucchese, who designed the Armonia collection for Vistosi, which was awarded the honourable mention of the Compasso D’Oro in 2020. When designing, Lucchese allows himself be inspired by history to identify future trends and needs, in seeking to bring out the maximum functionality of each object and offer new emotion. Colour also has great importance in his creative process, as shown by the Armonia chandeliers and wall lights, which combine warm and cold colours (crystal and amber, smoke and amber) or the extreme transparency of pure crystal cylinders, with two different metal finishes of the external ring that surrounds them: satin black nickel and internal satin brass or copper. It creates plays on circumferences that create infinite circles. The Armonia collection is enhanced with a new large-sized chandelier, a sublime example of Vistosi’s artisanal know-how, and four new appliques with a frame without a metal ring, which highlights the cylinders in crystal with different colours and processing techniques (E14 light). The historical reference is found in the techniques used for processing the glass: the balloton, which gives the glass surface a particular crossed relief that creates a special optical effect, the “rigadin”, the traditional striped design, both straight and twisted, which in the past decorated the surfaces of Murano glass furnishings to obtain interesting refractions of light, and the new elongated diamond pattern. The combination of colours and the technical details make the light diffused by Armonia truly enveloping, both in its suspension and wall versions.

An organic cascading design, the Peony series is constructed of a freeform structure with figurative blossoms in a dazzling display of crystal. Two hand-blown dishes, cloudy at their center, encase an array of crystals that span radially across a reveal in the glasses. The energy-efficient LED lights illuminate the bulbous flower forms, reflecting off the crystals and creating an iridescent lighting effect.

The light can be adjusted thanks to a sphere counterweight. Pushing the button on top of the sphere, a spring is released and the counterweight is free to slide on the steam, allowing to change the diffuser position up and down.

The drip takes the diversification of the drop to the next level. The drip has the drop's structure but has a personality all of its own. It is a lighting system that has not only evolved into various product types (wall lights, table lamps, and floor lamps with USB connection, among others) but also into other lampshade concepts. The new shade of the drip gives one the impression of being in the presence of a completely different lamp from the drop. It embodies the drip's spirit, simple, minimalist, and with straight lines. The drip's small lamp shade is also made from borosilicate glass, giving it a fine, delicate aesthetic. The choice of glass is closely linked to the light it casts, which is bright, but intimate. It creates ambiance while being highly practical for anyone nearby. "I always keep in mind the space that a lamp will be placed in because that is where it has meaning," explains Christophe. The design and function of the drip and drop fit perfectly into residential projects and contracting work. Because it can be applied in many ways, it works very well in hotels, both in common spaces and in rooms.

The Fortis sconce is a quintessential example of collaborative design working well. New York-based Desiron and Cerno use a reductionist approach to modern luxury design. The quality of wood, metal, and glass combined with a minimalist composition create a sophisticated and functional sconce built with integrity. Caleb Siemon of Siemon & Salazar developed the glacial-looking piece of glass using recycled remnants from our glass-blowing studio. The glass's depth and texture elevate the fixture and make this work of art a dynamic design.

Rundle never knows when inspiration will strike. “An idea will often form from a simple observation or noticing a problem, and I’ll keep it at the back of my mind for some time before acting on it. Once I start though, my process involves a lot of hands-on making and prototyping to understand how an object affects a space”, he says. The inspiration for the TR Bulb came from the untethered way we live today; moving often, sometimes multiple times within a year. “I wanted to create a high quality, a technically sophisticated lamp that was, in essence, a light bulb”, Rundle explains. Following the success of the original TR Bulb, MENU has partnered with the London-based Rundle to diversify the range of offerings from the TR series. “When a light has such a simple form, subtle differences can create a distinctly different character. The new shiny version offers a more classical feeling to the design”, Rundle says. The power of the TR Bulb is in its flexibility; it looks stylish in a variety of settings and formations, taken from space to space as people move homes or offices. So, it only made sense to widen that range, adding even more possibilities with the new shiny opal iteration. The TR Bulb fits perfectly into both MENU’s and Tim Rundle’s aesthetic universe; Tim describes his work as “seeking to improve the manufactured environment through elegant, technically refined solutions”.

Glassmaking is an ancient art that tells of centuries-old knowledge, handed down from generation to generation by the love and passion of expert craftsmen who carefully hold a tradition of excellence. True icons of timeless beauty are born when know-how and craftsmanship meet design, to form a perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation. This is the case of the Giogali and Minigiogali collections designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1967 for Vistosi, the lighting brand that has brought glass to perfection. The Giogali lamp (Compasso d’Oro mention in 1969) introduced a new concept in the use of glass: a modular lighting system based on a single hand-crafted crystal element (a type of hook) that can be repeated indefinitely to give life to structures that appear like cascades of light. The hook is the basic module that constitutes the entire architecture of the Giogali system (name that derives from the Venetian “giongher”, or the strap used in the countryside to tie the cart to the yoke), Mangiarotti’s modern interpretation of the Venetian chandelier. Long-term research based on the innovation of traditional shapes generated the hook, which thus becomes the constructive element of the chandelier itself. The basic element can be hooked in a series to form crystal chains, which in turn can be combined to create unlimited formal designs, such as chandeliers of any size that become scenographic backdrop of rooms. Following a restyling of the product, Vistosi introduced the Giogali 3D version in 2005: a new type of hook in glass that allows it to be paired to rings in all four directions, so as to form a continuous mesh that allows great installation flexibility.

The Puppet collection by Vistosi expresses passion and artisan know-how. The undisputed protagonist is blown glass, irregularly striped, an ancient manufacturing technique, known since the Romans and then also used for the processing of Murano glass. Here, from the breath of master glassmakers, new, magical shapes come to life. For Puppet, the Romani Saccani Architetti Associati studio, already designer of the Diadema collection, chose the sphere, a symbol of perfection and union, a movement that has no beginning or end, and therefore immutable over time, just like the Puppet collection, which since its conception has become an icon of the Vistosi catalogue. Moreover, the expressive research of Romani Saccani Architetti Associati is aimed at defining a strong, identifying, but conceptually simple, and therefore easily understandable sign. The result is a collection with a pure, immediate design, free of unnecessary frills. Puppet is available as a pendant lamp, wall lamp and table lamp. The suspension version includes spheres of three different sizes, and is available in different variants such as linear versions, those with a round rosette or in the chandelier. The latter allows you to fix the diffusers to the ceiling with steel cables as desired, creating ever-changing games with the fabric electric cables that recall the strings that moved ancient puppets. The diffusers are available in four glass finishes (shaded white, transparent crystal, transparent smoke, transparent amber) with the possibility of mixing them together. The metal frame can be in polished chrome finish with gray fabric electrical cable or matt black with black fabric electrical cable. The Puppet Ring collection, born in 2019, plays with spheres of different sizes, differentiating itself from the “classic” version by using a frame composed of rings of different sizes, single or combined, which form the base on which the precious glass spheres rest, which blend with the structure thanks to a pre-forming inside the blown glass. In addition to the three existing suspensions, three new configurations are added which, due to their large dimensions, are particularly suitable for large spaces. In the wall light, a ring supports a larger sphere, oriented towards the ceiling, and a smaller one facing the floor. Light and elegant, Puppet Ring ethereally combines crystal, smoked, amber and shaded white glass with gold and satin black nickel finishes.

Tread, Vistosi’s collection of lamps with a vintage soul and industrial style, is enriched with a new diffuser for the suspended version, again designed by the creative duo Chiaramonte & Marin. If the previous diffuser was reminiscent of an old oil lamp, taking us back to the Sixties, the new one does not lose its vintage inspiration, but is transformed and changes style: the blown glass with its characteristic lateral grooves, from which the name of the collection itself derives (from the English word thread), disappears and makes way for a smooth glass, with a decidedly larger diameter and whose shape recalls that of a suction cup. A new solution that makes it possible to illuminate small living areas even with just one element, containing costs, but without giving up a precious glass and a design element, able to characterise and enhance the environment in which it is inserted. Whatever the colour of the glass, the colour of the light does not change because the base of the diffuser is open; the different shades only influence the intensity of the illumination, making it more or less warm.
