Chinese designs came to England and her colonies with the tea trade. In the 1760's Virginia's governor ordered "bamboo chairs" for this Williamsburg "palace". Williamsburg cabinetmaker Edmund Dickinson owned a copy of Chippendales Director, the most fashionable furniture pattern book of the 1750s and 1760s. When he died fighting for the American cause in the Revolution, his Director was worth as much as his "new rifle gun". As part of the WILLIAMSBURG for PORT 68 collection, Bamboo Trellis celebrates Chippendale in bright meadow green-on-cream porcelain. The pattern was inspired by the dining room chairs in the Governor's Palace. The hexagon-shaped lamp features aged brass finished hardware and ball finial.

The Shino 27" Table Lamp Base is an instant ceramic artifact. This hand-painted, double-gourd-shaped studio lamp sports a dramatic geometric tribal pattern in burnt umber on a cream-colored craquelure glaze. A clear, lucite base highlights the ancient/modern, museum specimen effect. Shade sold separately.

Slender Beige stained glass petals sprout from a Chestnut crown with matching background accented with Amber Acorn glass jewels outlined in Willow White and bordered in Bark Brown. This gracious shade is created using Meyda Tiffany's famous copperfoil construction process and complemented with an elegant Mahogany Bronze lamp base.

Firstly, I was unable to get my 'first purchase 10% discount" as the offered link would not work. We wound up purchasing anyway, and received a card with a code for this discount the day that the lamp arrived, having already paid. Not so good for a first-purchase-only offer. Secondly, while we like the quality of the lamp, we bought it specifically for the maroon/burgundy glass which appeared to be in the shade.
