Which is a pity, because the granny knot on which NUT is based sat proudly on the heraldic badge of the Bourchier family. We however are fortunate to live in an era when NUT can adorn our own little castles; a powerful symbol of our exquisite breeding. We can thank the brilliant Marivi Calvo and Ray Power for their valor and insight. Long may they reign supreme.

It was way back in 1858 when German mathematicians August Ferdinand Mobius and Johann Benedict Listing discovered the mysterious Mobius Strip, with its eternally flowing surface. In 2013 Ray Power created LINK. And so the story of infinite geometry continues through the magic of light.

In a moment of pure revelation Burkhard Dämmer realised that enchanted things emerges from pods. And the most enchanted of all is light. POD & POPPY are a husk that shines with the power of radiance.

Beautifully bohemian, this beachy, breezy pendant is embellished with dozens and dozens of mango and acacia wood beads with a soft slate blue finish. The trim and chain, in antiqued brass, add a touch of luxe to the decidedly casual look. They bring both color and light to a room and are especially wonderful displayed in multiples above a kitchen island or breakfast table.

I have used this piece before a few times. The design is simply beautiful, the quality is sublime. This piece is from Spain, imported...and the packing is unbelievable. the light glows through the wood veneer, making for a striking visual effect. All of there products are pieces of artwork. MARUJA, THE DO-IT-YOURSELF LAMP. An original self-assembly pendant, Maruja was designed by the fresh-faced Gazpacho Studio—it is LZF’s first flat-pack fixture. A contemporary lamp, Maruja’s design is simultaneously unfussy and decorative. Maruja is a name whose origins lie in Galicia, and signifies both femininity and strength. The do-it-yourself Maruja is packaged with all the components needed to assemble the lamp: wood veneer strips (in several sizes), a circular frame, and pins. Maruja is easily constructed, without the need for any tools or adhesives. Using a pin, each wooden strip is clipped onto the circular frame—insert a light bulb, and you will have created an elegant, handmade lamp. The wood veneer strips hang and move freely, and when illuminated, Maruja sparkles with life.

With its simple, minimalist design and sleek curvature, suspension complements a variety of decors. The wooden slats provide warm and diffused light, making it ideal for placement above a dining table, buffet, or kitchen island. Designed and produced in France, brings a fresh perspective on illuminating interior spaces while promoting the craftsmanship of laser-cut wood using locally sourced FSC-certified materials and providing flat packaging without any plastic to minimize CO2 emissions. I-LINE, THE ARCHITECTURAL LIGHT. I-Line Slim is a smooth and sleek lamp, with a clean, architectural line. Designed by long-time LZF collaborator Burkhard Dämmer, I-Line is available in two sizes: short and long suspension. I-Line’s unfussy design is perfect in places and spaces that call for a practical, yet elegant, luminaire: above a countertop or a work table, for example. I-Line’s wood veneer, dimmable LED, and light-filtering diffuser, provide both direct and ambient light. In I-Line, Burkhard Dämmer has created a lamp that is simple, symmetrical and serene.

STITCHES, THE EMBROIDERED LIGHT. Egbert-Jan Lam of Netherlands-based Burojet Design Studio created the ‘embroidered’ Stitches family of lamps. Called Mopti, Tombuctú, Djenné and Bamako—after towns and cities in the West African nation of Mali—each lamp has its own distinct pattern. To make an individual lamp, veneer lengths are crafted in a traditional sewing fashion: the pattern is marked out, cut and then repeated. Where hemming is normally used to complete a garment, the Stitches lamp has a visible hemstitch through which light radiates. The unique shape of each Stitches lamp is an allusion to the adobe mosques found across Mali. Moreover, the Stitches lamps embody Mali’s long history as a producer of embroidery.

Whatever the case, he became enamoured with novelist Agatha Christie, and chose to celebrate her murder-mystery tomes with this equally mysterious lamp named in her honour. And while Christie weaves an intriguing tale, Eslava has woven a captivating piece of light-art that asks us only one curly question: Was it the butler?

ESCAPE, THE ASSURED LIGHT. Escape is an avant-garde pendant with a smart domino-like structure. Its self-supporting veneer panels give the impression of falling into a ring of light, their form defying gravity. Designed by Ray Power, Escape is a truly handsome, self-assured light. While enjoying a little bit of swagger and appearing fairly pleased with itself, the Escape pendant’s manner is bright and buoyant. Moreover, Escape is entirely affable, having an approachable quality that is perfect for any well turned out setting.

Three primary parts, the light, the hubs, and the wood slats, compose the form, function, and feel. After a collaboration of more than ten years, Dandelion is Burkhard Dämmer’s latest contribution to LZF.Dandelion can be considered as one single lamp or a combination of lamps. Inside, every shade several LED circuits are hidden, which can be lit all at once or by sections to meet the requirements of the room and the time of day. Outside, the LZF wood veneer enfolds every geometrical shape, like cones sinking at different depths into the heart of Dandelion.The result is a very original lamp, a geometric puzzle of light which resembles one of the most basic forms of life.
