LUANG is a locally made floor lamp designed by Faro Lab. The Luang lighting collection is inspired by the art and craft of objects made from papyrus and natural fibers in Southeast Asia; in how they create volumetric objects of great poetics and formal complexity from flat elements. A novel, contemporary design that stands out for its ever-changing organic forms inspired by nature and for the fascinating effect that the light emanating from inside produces in the petals. Hand formed metal mesh shades are dimpled and folded into distinctive, artisanal forms. Pank is an essential lighting concept whose key design element is based on a bright beam that can be adjusted and projected through its own shape. Pank was created by obliquely cutting the end of the cylindrical fabric lampshade in order to produce an asymmetry that would “bend” the light and enable the user to project and modulate it as required: a simple solution that produces an alternating effect both inside and outside, making it appear different depending on the angle it is viewed from.
