"Road to Canton" is a gloriously fun interpretive pattern celebrating a journey through the countryside. Dogs, Asian pagodas, Ginko trees, and a boat ride down the river all join together in a whimsical pattern painted by John Loecke of Madcap Cottage. We offer two versions of the light-colored pattern in porcelain, and on our Delfern Bench in coral and celadon fabrics. Canton is a narrow jar rectangle-shaped lamp with a rectangle lucite base. Accented with aged brass hardware and crystal ball finial.

Update: Wayfair immediately shipped a replacement lamp and the replacement arrived in perfect condition. My wife and I really like this lamp and appreciate Wayfair replacing the damaged lamp so quickly. Original Review: The mica on the lamp shade was damaged in several places. The packaging was perfect and the shade was probably damaged before it was packed. Second, the paint which covers the dragonflies on the base looks very good when the base light is off, but looks thin and poorly applied when turned on. When Marjorie Skouras designed this table lamp, she was inspired by the Mexican quail that roam the meadows and woods of the Yucatan Peninsula that she calls home. The pair of quail and the rocky ledge on which they are perched are fashioned from cast aluminum in an antique brass finish. The black marble base is honed rather than polished and the natural linen shade with gold foil lining has glimmering gold trim on its top and bottom edges. A whimsical design detail is a finial that is shaped like a quail's head feather.

Very unique... I spend time staring at it...I am messing around with different types of bulbs. These are solid, heavy lamps. The base is wide enough to support the shade---no chance of them tipping over (I was worried about that!). LOVELY design. My only complaint is that I was under the impression (and this is one of the reasons I purchased these lamps), that they were made in USA...only to find a "made in China" sticker on the bottom of the lamp :( :(. I can't remember ever being more disappointed in a purchase than I was with this lamp. I debated about purchasing it to begin with because although I am in love with the design, it is definitely pricey at over $500. When the lamp arrived, it felt like a joke. The description of the lamp shade refers to "blue ripple glass" and "brown ripple glass." From what I can tell, "ripple glass" is code for either plastic or plexiglass. That would be fine for an $80 lamp, but for $500+ I was expecting something a lot nicer. In addition, the finial that screws on to the top of the shade is mis-threaded. There was NO way to get that sucker on straight. All in all, I felt like I got the cheap knock off version of the lamp pictured. This is a stunningly beautiful table lamp. Thankfully it is slightly smaller than I had pictured it to be. It fits perfectly on our sofa table In the photo that I took, the glass appears to be warm colors, but in real life, the colors appear to be slightly cooler.
